Looking for a vineyard with stunning views? Ringer Reef is your place.
Ringer Reef is a small winery, vineyard and cellar door located in the Alpine Valleys region of Victoria, a few kilometres out of the town of Bright.
There are two things I love about this winery:
A family business
The owners are husband and wife team Bruce and Annie Holm who built the winery up from scratch and have kept it a boutique business. The wines produced are mostly from hand picked grapes grown on Ringer Reef or on neighbouring vineyards and are bottled on site. The wines are damn good too! The sparkling Merlot is perfect for a hot summer day.
The location is simply stunning. Just 6 kms out of Bright the property has spectacular views over the Buckland Valley and Mount Buffalo National Park. You can sit up on the terrace and enjoy a cheese platter while you taste their wines, or take a picnic rug out to the grass and while away the afternoon under the trees.
They don’t have a full restaurant on site, but you could bring your own picnic or try one of their two platters - made up of cured meats, cheeses and local produce.
Ringer Reef is conveniently located on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, so i’d highly advise if you are cycling the trail to take a slight detour to this perfect little vineyard. They are an accredited cycle friendly business and don’t mind you leaving your bikes out the front while you do some wine tasting in your lycra.
